I make this healthy no bake banana dessert whenever I have a craving for something sweet, either as a snack or a dessert. I've been making this recipe for years, way before I had to go on a "free from" diet. But this healthy banana dessert happens to be naturally vegan and paleo: yeah!

If you are looking for more no bake desserts, I have a Fluffy Aquafaba Chocolate Mousse recipe and a Strawberry and Mint Fruit Salad recipe you will love!

⭐ Why you'll love this recipe

    • It's incredibly easy to make.
    • Takes only 5 minutes.
    • Requires only 3 ingredients.
    • It's a healthy banana dessert.
    • No bake.
    • Kid friendly.

    📖 Ingredient notes

For this super easy and quick recipe, you will need:

    • Banana. For this recipe you will want to use a fresh banana.
    • Sliced blanched almonds (flaked almonds). They add a touch of crunchiness to this delicious banana snack.
    • Dark chocolate chips or bars. Make sure to check the ingredients in order to choose dark chocolate that is both healthy and compliant with your diet restrictions if you have any. Yes, I've found out that even dark chocolate can sometimes contain milk!

    See recipe card for quantities.

    💭 Variations

    • You can make this recipe with another kind of fruit: apples, apricots, pears...
    • Instead of blanched almonds you can use any other kind of nut: walnuts, pistachios, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans... Just cut them into pieces and sprinkle your bowl.

    🔪Step by step instructions

    • Heat a small pan on medium high heat. Add almonds in a single layer and roast them for a few minutes (until they get a golden color)
a black cast iron skillet on the stove to roast sliced blanched almonds
    • In the meantime, melt the chocolate (read below to know how if needed).
    • Peel the banana and slice it. Put the banana slices in a bowl. Pour the melted chocolate on the banana and add the roasted flaked almonds on top. Voilà! You've just made a healthy banana snack that is now ready to be served. Bon appétit!

🥣 How to melt chocolate (2 ways)

    In the microwave

    1. Place the chocolate chips (or chocolate bar cut in pieces) in a microwave safe bowl.
    2. Then add about a teaspoon of water or non dairy milk of your choice (almond milk, coconut milk...).
    3. Then cook in the microwave oven for 30 seconds to 1 minute (depending on how powerful you microwave is). Whisk the chocolate with a spoon and voilà!

    On stove

    1. Fill a pan halfway with water. Heat the pan of water until it's simmering.
    2. Place the chocolate chips (or chocolate bar cut in pieces) in a heat proof bowl. This bowl needs to be smaller than the pan.
    3. Then place this bowl in the pan of water.
    4. Let the bowl of chocolate sit over the pan of barely simmering water and allow the chocolate to melt, stirring occasionally.

This method is called a bain marie.

    👩🏻‍🍳Top tips

To make this No Bake Banana Dessert beautiful, try to pour the melted chocolate as beautifully as possible. Try to drizzle it all over the banana slices rather than pour it in one go in the middle of the bowl.
