Course:  Beverage Difficulty:  Easy Servings:  1 Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

– red wine – maple syrup – No added sugar red grape juice (no alcohol version) – water – orange zest – 3 cloves – 1 cinnamon stick – 2 oranges

– Transfer  the red wine and maple syrup (or grape juice and water) to a sauce pan  along with the cinnamon stick, orange zest and cloves. Slice one orange  and add it to the sauce pan. Let the whole thing cook on medium heat for  20 minutes. – Strain the mulled wine (I like to put a strainer over a large bowl to avoid making a mess) and transfer into a mug or glass. – Slice  the second orange and cut the slices in quarters. Add the orange slices  to the mug to decorate. You can also add the cinnamon stick to the mug.  Et voilà! Serve hot.

How to Zest an Orange

Firstly, when you plan to zest an orange, I highly recommend selecting  an organic orange in order to avoid eating pesticides. Secondly, rince  the orange under cold water then dry it with a clean towel. Then, using a  zester or a small grater remove the top orange colored layer of the  peel. Zest is used to add flavor to a dish or, in today's case, to a  drink.
